A little addicted (to crochet)

Oh dear, what started out as a fill in project has signs of taking over. I just love this pattern, the colours, the yarn. Bright Cath Kidston colours on a dull overcast day. Lunch time crochet fix at work and almost another set complete. Plan to make other colours for a friend who has recently moved, not sure she's into bright colours so will go safe with beach colours. I did manage to find some Rowan cotton glace in lemon in the sale at Black Sheep Wool  use the 15% coupon to save more pennies! Enjoy your afternoon. Amanda x

crochet coasters (free pattern)

I'm dreaming of warmer days, hopefully Spring is around the corner. A little Saturday night crochet when I should have been concentrating on other projects! Here are the finished coasters, I'm addicted and can't wait to sit down this afternoon to make another set. You can find the pattern link here

a family of hats

I finished my sisters beanie hat on Thursday night, the colour is perfect, aqua green/blue. The colour really suits the blackberry stitch and the best thing is my sister loved it, phew. I drove away from my sisters house last night singing along to Luther Vandross with a smile on my face, its satisfying  giving a hand made gift and knowing the recipient appreciated it. I now have a request from Megan (my niece) and luckily I'd already bought the wool in anticipation that she'd like it too! Hers will be in denim blue for the fashion conscious 18 year old. And her sister Yasmin will be receiving one in grey, but she doesn't know it yet. A whole family of knitted hats, that's cute.

One kind word can change someone's entire day

http://www.janaleemiller.com Isn't it lovely when someone new visits your blog and leaves a lovely message about your projects. Made me smile this morning when I read a new message left by a blogger who's work I had admired earlier this week. I always admire other people's knitting, crochet, sewing and let the person know via their blog. I'm proud of my achievements and teaching myself these crafts,  I like to share my love of colour and to openly admit I hoard wool! (don't we all?) I drive my husband Ian mad with the amount I buy, don't use half of it and leave in the loft! The say oh I have found a use for, can you get the ladder down for me? But he too admires my finished pieces, that take me many hours to complete and likes the fact my crochet blankets keep him warm on chilly evenings and Sunday afternoons.  It's funny after all the years of looking at other people's crochet people are now looking at mine. I like that, it gives me a warm

a light dusting of snow

I woke up this morning, it was still dark but snowing! Yes in Kent we have had a little share of snow. Well we did have some on Saturday afternoon but that went away whilst it was snowing. Its lovely to see fresh snow, it makes the whole place look so different and magical. The trouble is it also brings misery to us commuters who have to drive to work, it took me double the amount of time to drive about 16 miles but no snow where I work, just lots of cars on the road. But we have more on the way, up to 4 inches maybe, lets see what tomorrow morning brings.
